Not My Bus

This is not my bus, but I had one almost exactly like it. Mine was the same color, but it didn't have that thingy on top. And my parking lights were amber instead of white. Mine was a 1965 and this one might be a year older. Somewhere on this site you will find my old bus in black and white. I took this picture in Morro Bay, California several years ago.

The engine is a 50 horsepower, 1500 cc's, air cooled, horizonally opposed, 4 cylinder mounted in the back. Good traction, but not much speed. It also had plenty of room for four kids, which is why we bought it in the first place.

A Street Rod in Gatlinburg

Way back in 1975, I took this picture of a street rod in a parade in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. My guess is that it dates from 1933. (I'm a 1933 model myself.) But what make is it? The shape of the grill looks like a Ford, but I'm not sure. I count six lights and two horns.

Austin Healey

This 1957 Austin Healey 3000 has a six cylinder engine. It belongs to a friend of mine who lives in Florida. More than half a century ago, he and I explored several counties on an old Famous James motorcycle, and later on a Cushman motor scooter. We went places that sports car probably shouldn't go, but it might have been more fun in something like this.

Modern sports cars may be faster, but they don't stack up very well in the looks department when compared to this beauty.
